Over 1,000 homeless live in Indianapolis. St. John’s downtown location gives us a unique opportunity to serve our neighbors in Christ, the poor and homeless in our midst.
Each day, St. John’s Garden Door Ministry hands out sandwiches and water to over 70 people who come to our doors.
There are opportunities to volunteer for this ministry to make sandwiches and to answer the door and hand out food. Other opportunities are also available as this ministry continues to grow, such as making meals other than sandwiches to hand out to our neighbors.
We have also started an annual cookout for our friends who experience homelessness. It typically occurs late summer or early fall and is a great evening to share a meal with our friends and get to know them better. We are always looking for volunteers so if you are interested stay tuned once the date for next summer or fall is set. Thanks!
Please contact David Bartolowits for more information or to volunteer. Thank you for discerning whether God may be calling you to this ministry and for your prayers for our neighbors and those who serve them.
